Widening Participation

We at Chichester believe passionately that Higher Education should be open to all who have the ability and the potential to benefit from it, regardless of age, ethnicity, disability and family background. We know from our experience that a diverse student group makes for a lively and successful community.

The University of Chichester is also part of the Aimhigher Sussex programme. This programme engages with selected schools and colleges across the county by offering campus visits, taster days and other activities which help raise student expectations and an awareness of the benefits of going on to Higher Education. Care Leavers in Higher Education
The Frank Buttle Trust is the largest UK charity providing grants to young people from care backgrounds in need of financial support. The University of Chichester has recently been successful in its application for The Frank Buttle Trust Quality Mark, and has appointed Janet Johnston as the Care Leavers Co ordinator.
Applicants who tick the appropriate ‘Care Leavers Box’ on their UCAS form will be contacted directly by the Care Leavers Co ordinator at the University of Chichester. Their details will be handled confidentially and will be considered by a review panel as to whether they are able to access the extra support and guidance package offered by the University of Chichester.
